Parents must help their children develop a strong sense of self worth, confidence and self-esteem to be proud of themselves, their nationality and ethnicity in the multicultural country that is the UAE.

That way, when being picked on or teased at school, they know how to respond and not be bullied.
Samineh Shaheem explains that teaching our children gratitude, self-awareness, compassion and empathy is the way to prevent them to harm and being harmed.

Parents must understand what is bullying, why it happens and the effect it can have on their children.
Sometimes a close behavior observation is necessary when children don’t show they are being bullied.

Mothers must have a strong relationship with their children and be able to notice a change or shift in character, if they are missing belongings and possessions, if they don’t want to go to school, , if they cry for no reason, complain about stomach ache and headache, have psychosomatic symptoms, emotional despair or show no more enthusiasm.

Teenagers go through periods of stress and hormonal changes.
Their change of behavior might not be linked to bullying but just to their normal development.

The solution is to engage and communicate with the child and share stories about everyday life and their feelings.
